The Norris Lake Project Team is a 501c3 Charitable Organization organized to preserve the natural beauty and conserve the natural resources of the Norris Lake Watershed area for the benefit of the residents and visitors to the area while assisting the local governments combat the deterioration of natural resources in the surrounding communities.
We started in 2009 as a group of concerned citizens meeting together to discuss conservation and sustainability issues relating to the Norris Lake Watershed. Norris Lake is spread across 34,000 surface acres and surrounded by over 800 miles of shoreline nestled in the mountains of East Tennessee making it the perfect year-round vacation destination. It is described as the cleanest lake in the Tennessee Valley Authority’s system but if you look closer, you will see some misplaced garbage. That is why the Norris Lake Project team has been conducting bi-annual Norris Lake Cleanups in all five counties that contain Norris Lake since 2009.
In December 2018, the team also took on the task of developing a sustainability and connectivity plan for the trails surrounding Norris Lake. With funding from TVA, the team contracted with Toole Design who conducted the Trail Sustainability and Connectivity Study for what we now call the Norris Lake Area Trail System, a.k.a. NATS. The final report can be found at www.natstrails.com. We are chipping away at implementing the plan starting with constructing new trails, repairing existing trails to be more sustainable, and branding and promoting the trails.
We are always looking for new team members. Click HERE to find out more and UPCOMING CLEANUPS to see how you can help.

Most of our cleanups involve manpower but some projects dictate the need for machinery.
